I adopted a rescued Kitten from Heather last Christmas, from a stray mom and her litter. One of my friends adopted my kitty's brother. I named mine Ginger, and her brother is called Bruce. They were both healthy and well socialized, and both have fit in well in their new homes. Ginger had a few troubles with separation anxiety, and began peeing on things after I took two vacations close together, and Heather was the first person I went to for advice. We exchanged many emails brainstorming solutions, and Heather even offered to take Ginger back or help me find her a new home if I couldn't retrain her. Luckily, a bit of extra love, and a change of cat litter brands seemed to work- so Ginger has remained in our family. It's obvious to me, having known Heather for many years, and being a pet lover myself, that she loves animals and really cares about making sure they have loving homes.

I adopted Misty from Heather a couple years ago. I meet with Heather in her home in Prescott. I found Heather and her family treated all the animals as part of their family. Heather made sure that Misty had her shots up to date before I came and also made sure that I was aware of her history(rescued from an apartment in a small crate. Misty is a german shepard/ malamute mix) and what Heather has been doing on her training. I have also known Heather since public school and found Heather to love animals and is a very caring person. Because of her Misty has been apart of our lives and is a very spoiled puppy.

I adopted a young dog from what I thought was a rescue. Unfortunately that young dog was very ill, and when I went back to the person I had adopted it from; the response was "so what, deal with it." I have since been informed that this person was a puppy peddler/miller and not a rescue.
Thank you very much to Heather and her rescue for helping me with the vet fees to get my dog healthy. I have since adopted a puppy from Heather, who was healthy and well socialized.
If you are looking to send a puppy or puppies into rescue, please make sure those puppies will live in the house and not outside somewhere. No puppy from a shed, barn or out building is properly socialized and this leads to behavioural problems in the near future.
Ask for references and really take your time. Anyone can claim to be in it for the pets. Some just care about the quick cash. Heather and her rescue team is the real thing caring only about what is best for the animals in their care.
Turn over only to a reputable rescue and adopt only from a reputable rescue. Save yourself the heartache I went through.
Thank goodness now FAPA is shut down and no longer scamming people and pretending to rescue. Thank you to the SPCA, the animal control, local police and most of all to Heather Auger and her love of animals for saving the animals.

* I am so sorry to report that our shut down of FAPA was only temporary and she is again claiming to rescue. We have contacted her by law officer as well as her SPCA in hopes that they will step in again. Her puppies were left sitting in their own feces and urine. They were unsocialized and abused. She built a kennel without a building license, and on top of weeping tiles. As a result an environmental team had to come in and determine if any damage was done to the environment. Throughout all this the only care this person had was how much money she was out. Not once did she care about the poor innocent animals in her care that she was treating worse then a puppy mill would treat them. *

I am proud of you for taking in these pups that need help....to many end up dumped on a country or city street, and its pretty cold for them. It might put your kids in danger of falling in love with them and wanting you to keep them!

note for anyone concerned: my children are very active and proud to be a part of our rescue. They are fully aware that we cannot keep the puppies and they are fully aware of what rescue is! Thank you r Heather!

I am writing this letter on behalf of Heather Auger. She runs a animal rescue because she is an animal lover and believes that every animal deserves to have a loving home. She is not in this to make a profit by any means. All the animals that she takes in go in for vet checks and vaccinations and that money comes out of her pocket. She is a stay at home mom with only one income coming in and being a stay at home mom myself i know how tight money is with only that one income. If she was out to make a profit, she wouldn't be willing to help people such as myself with giving advice through emails and not asking for anything in return other then we love our animals as much as we do our own kids. Also if she was out to make a profit she would be adpoting the animals out for a lot more then what it costs her to take them to the vet and to anyone that took an interest. Instead she does it all through applications and does home visits to insure that the family is right for the animal and that the animal is right for the family. Gee, driving to do home visits once again costs money and again is does not include that in her adoption fees...hmmmm. She purchases all the supplies that she needs, food, bedding, medication (if needed), with money out of her own pocket. She never asks for donations and if someone offers to donate she leave that up to them and makes sure that everyone knows that it is not required. She helped me with issues that I was having with my dog Ginger and without her we probably wouldn't have Ginger anymore. I know for a fact that when the times comes that I want to look at getting another dog Heather's rescue is the first place that i am going to turn to.

I first met Heather about a year ago. Her dedication towards her family and animals is impeccable. I have raised dogs for almost 30 years, bred on occasion for five, and also own a rescue dog which was brought to me abused and neglected. I know first hand how much effort to rehabilitate an animal can be. Shaggy has now been my wonderful shadow for 14 years.
There are so many people that think bringing in rescues and breeding animals is a good way to make a quick buck. When taken into consideration vet cost, supplies, not to mention the hundreds of hours it takes to ensure an animal is solid enough for adoption. Heather has done this out of the goodness of her heart, an now also is doing what she can to help support the Farley foundation which helps with emergency vet cost so that low income seniors and disabled can keep their pets with them. Her support for this foundation proves the type of person Heather is.
I am proud to call Heather my friend, and definitely recommend her if someone has a pet in need.

I had to use Heather's service of dropping off a pup that I could no
longer take care of. He was under weight and not doing well. I didn't
know what to do, so I posted him and his brother for free on a website
that sells items. I told people that the pups were ill and I didn't
know what was wrong with them. After replying to 120 emails within the
first hour I got to Heather's email. She was so understanding about
the hard decision that I had before me I decided that she should take
one of the pups and another person that had experience dealing with
another ill dog to get the other. I dropped off the pup at Heather's
so I could get a look at what her set up is. She got him vet checked
and they came up with a plan for treatment. Almost 1 week into Heather
having the pup I could notice him putting on weight, by the third week
he looked just like a normal pup, plump and playing like nothing was
ever wrong. He still needed special attention though and she went out
of her way to make sure the prospective adoptive homes knew this.
Heather is a remarkable lady. She took in this pup not knowing what
was wrong with him. She was willing to take on the vet expenses and
the possible long term care of my sick pup without asking for anything
in return and she is not one of those people that just picks up any dog
with the hopes of making a quick buck trying to resell them at a later
time. She cares about the animals. Anyone can tell this once you see
her place. Although small, it is very clean and you can tell she
spends time with the animals as they are all happy when she is around.
It has been months now since I had dropped off that pup and we still
keep in contact talking about the latest dogs she has in her care. Any
pup/dog that is in her care has gotten the best care in my opinion and
if I were to get another dog down the line I will get one from her
without hesitation.
